There was no particular location for the cheders in town. Every melamed used his residing quarters as a classroom, generally with the permission from the authorities and generally without. Even if the melamed obtained a licence, it was all the time for a smaller variety of kids than he taught. In case of an inspection by the authorities, the additional kids always disappeared.
And Settled In Her Shtetl, Strzyzow
His youngsters have been Reb Moshe Meir, one of many smartest people on the town; daughter Sarah who was the spouse of Reb Elazar Weiss and Luba who lived in Limanov. One daughter moved to Rzeszov where she established a large family and Taubha resided in Pilzno. Soon after the Nazi occupied Chudnov, at the finish of July, 1942 they ordered all of the older Jewish folks to report to the Firemen’s Club and to deliver all their belongings and valuables with them. They have been stored there for three days without meals and water. On the third day, they took the victims to a grove exterior of city the place freshly dug graves awaited them. On this day, the Nazi killed all the older population of the town together with the mother and father of my wife.
Recollections From Residents Of Strzyzow
All the professionals who resided in Strzyzow within the final fifty years were all out-of-towners who settled in Strzyzow to practice their occupation. There have been docs galeria strzyżów, attorneys, dentists and some clerks. The majority of them did not socialize with the gentiles and neither have been they too shut with the Jews.
At the viewers, Ritter’s daughter, two attorneys, the above-mentioned rabbis and Reb Mordechai Wilner, a family pal who stood by during their ordeal, have been present. At the short viewers with the Emperor, he advised them not to worry. In 1910, the committee in Strzyzow was asked to help the Zionists from the close by shtetl of Frysztak to determine a library. This little shtetl was ultra-Hassidic with many extremists who opposed such progress like a library. One night time, they broke into the place where the borrowed books from our library in Strzyzow were kept and made a bonfire destroying all the books.
In 1892, the Credit Society was established with Salomon Diamant at its helm. I even have no information about natives from Strzyzow in Latin American countries apart from Brazil. In Venezuela, Yacov Adest resides together with his sister Bina, the kids of Reb Ephraim Samuel Adest. Menachem Mendel Kanner, a son of Israel who escaped from the Nazi died in one of these nations. In common and till World War I, emigration was not in style.
There was also a practice in Strzyzow that each time a boy was born, the helper took the children to welcome the new born. The kids recited a prayer and got treats. In the village Godowa, near Strzyzow, a younger man, Yacov, the son of Aryeh Leibush Diamand, was hiding till he was caught by a neighborhood farmer who brought him to the Nazi police, and he was killed by them. Details about what happened to the Jews from these little cities and villages during the Holocaust, and who survived, are unknown to me.
They also transported freight which arrived by train. One of the coach drivers was killed through the pogrom in 1919 and another man took his place. Besides the Zionist youth, I would also like to mention a couple of people from our town who stood out with their good deeds. We, the youthful ones, cooperated with the older comrades in all Zionist actions.
